Harley-Davidson® Pan America™ 1250
The adventure bike segment is one of the fastest growing motorcycle segments on the market. Also known as ADV motorcycles, these bikes are able to travel both off-road and on and can either be set up as a sport bike or as a tourer that go just about anywhere. To meet this demand, Harley-Davidson® introduced an all-new family: Adventure Touring. That family currently consists of two models: the Pan America™ 1250 and the Pan America™ 1250 Special, which has an electronically-adjustable suspension that incorporates with the various riding modes. Both bikes were an immediate hit when introduced last year. It was named 2021 Motorcycle of the Year by Motorcycle.com and selected as the 2021 Best Adventure Bike by Cycle World Magazine. Furthermore, the Pan America™ 1250 was the best-selling adventure bike in the U.S. in 2021, and it outsold the runner-up by a significant margin.
Updates for the 2022 Model
As 2022 neared and Harley-Davidson® remained tight-lipped about their plans, many fans were left wondering whether the brand would make any changes to this instant classic. With the arrival of the 2022 Harley-Davidson® Pan America™ 1250 in New Port Richey, we now have our answer, which is that Harley-Davidson® focused on refinements and customization options rather than any major updates. The TFT screen has been upgraded in order to provide better visibility when riding. H-D® has also improved the Vehicle Hill Hold mechanism, which can now increase up to five minutes. It has also introduced a new two-tone color option for the Special—Fastback Blue/White Sand—and it has announced a range of additional accessories through which you can customize your Pan America™ 1250 or 1250 Special.
Performance
Performance is carried over from the previous model mostly unchanged. Both the Pan America™ 1250 and 1250 Special are powered by the Revolution Max. This liquid-cooled powertrain delivers 150 horses, ample torque and what Harley-Davidson® describes as a “surging powerband” that has been tuned to give the rider maximum control. Ride characteristics include a tall profile, an upright rider position, a frame-mounted fairing, mid-mount foot controls and a passenger seat. The main difference between the 1250 Special and standard 1250 is a semi-active front and rear suspension with vehicle load control and adaptive ride height, which can be controlled through the selectable riding modes.
